The first Boiler Column is erected in Stapelfeld

The Construction of the new EfW Plant is finally picking up Speed

January 2023

Good news from Stapfelfeld! The construction of the new Energy from Waste plant is finally picking up speed. We are pleased that we were also able to make our contribution by placing the first boiler column.

The new Energy from Waste plant will not only use the energy of the resource waste far more efficiently than the almost 40-year-old existing plant, but will also more than double electricity generation while maintaining the same heat output. Depending on the heating value, between 320,000 - 350,000 metric tons of waste from the surrounding area will be safely treated each year with low emissions. For the new, four-pass boiler, the first steel column of the boiler frame has now been set, which will support the boiler in the future.

We are pleased with the "start" of the project and look forward with confidence to the realization of the plants! Many thanks to our customer and all parties involved for the cooperative collaboration!

Energy from Waste Plant
Stapelfeld, Hamburg, Germany

Reference sheet Project Page (EEW)

EEW Energy from Waste GmbH is building a new replacement for the existing sewage sludge mono-incineration plant at the Stapelfeld site, located northeast of Hamburg. The entire complex will consist of two individual plants, a thermal waste treatment plant for residual waste and a mono sewage sludge incineration plant. In the future, municipal waste, commercial waste similar to household waste and processed municipal waste will be thermally treated, electricity will be fed into the grid and district heating will be produced for the municipality of Stapelfeld and the Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Standardkessel Baumgarte received the order to supply the steam generator and the grate firing system for the new energy from waste plant.

This is what the project start looks like!
