October 2015
On 08.10.2015 Baumgarte Boiler Systems GmbH received from Stadtwerke Gießen AG (municipal utilities) the order for the construction of the steam generator and grate for the future thermal residual material treatment and energy utilization plant TREA II in Gießen.
The feature of the new plant is the combination of waste incineration in conjunction with two gas-powered combined heat and power units which leads to higher energy efficiency. The exhaust gases from the CHP plant in this case take over the external superheating of the saturated steam generated in the boiler.
The energy generated in the future plant will supply electricity and district heat to the city of Gießen.
The scope of the order comprises essentially the combustion-grate firing system and the steam generator with external superheater and residual heat transfer heating surfaces.
The plant will go into operation in the spring of 2017.
Technical data:
Furnace thermal input: 10 MWth
Steam capacity: 13.8 t/h
Steam pressure at boiler outlet: 44 bar a
Steam temperature at outlet of external superheaters: approx. 390 °C
