Baumgarte to construct a waste incineration plant in Kaunas, Lithuania

March 2017

In March 2017, Baumgarte received the order for the construction of a waste incineration plant in Kaunas, Lithuania and can hence be pleased about a promising start to the year.

The customer, UAB Kauno kogeneracine jegaine, has placed an order with Baumgarte for the supply of the boiler and the grate for the waste incineration plant in Kaunas. The future waste-to-energy plant is to produce electricity and heat through the thermal recycling of municipal waste. From 2020 this will be fed into the public grid of the city of Kaunas. For the implementation of the highly efficient waste incineration plant, with extremely ambitious steam parameters, Baumgarte’s special know-how is relied upon also in Lithuania.

Technical data:
Waste throughput rate – max.:          300,000 t/a
Calorific value:                                 7.0 – 15.0 MJ/kg
Rated thermal input:                         85.0 MWth
Superheated steam pressure:            76 bar (a)
Superheated steam temperature:       450°C
