Go ahead for biomass-fired combined heat and power plant on Speyside, United Kingdom

March 2013

On 5th March 2013 Moray Council voted in favour of the planned construction of Speyside biomass-fired combined heat and power plant and granted approval to Speyside Renewable Energy Partnership Ltd. for the construction of the power plant.

This is an important step towards the implementation of the power plant project that is being developed by Standardkessel Baumgarte Contracting jointly with Estover Energy.

The future combined heat and power plant will export approx. 11 MW of electricity to the public grid as well as approx. 9 MW of process steam to supply the neighbouring Macallan distillery.

Wood from the local industry, principally residual forest wood and small wood will be used as the fuel.
