Retrofitting of an SCR plant for thyssenkrupp Steel at the Duisburg location by VPC and Standardkessel

The company thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG (thyssenkrupp) operates the gas-fired “Hermann-Wenzel” power plant with a total of 4 units at the Duisburg-Ruhrort location. Unit IV is to be retrofitted with a catalytic nitrogen oxide reduction plant (SCR plant) to be able to reliably meet future NOx emission limit values during operation.

 

In July 2016, VPC GmbH (VPC) received an order from thyssenkrupp for the construction of the SCR plant. For the supply of the reducing agent system and the conception of the SCR reactor, VPC included the company Standardkessel GmbH in the project as a consortium partner. 

 

The scope of supply includes the complete design, the erection and commissioning of the plant. Besides the dismantling of existing boiler parts and the integration of the new SCR reactor, the supply of reducing agent as far as injection into the flue gas path including associated piping, control and measuring systems are included in the scope of supply. 

 

thyssenkrupp in this case relies for execution both on the technical competence and on the many years of experience of VPC and Standardkessel.
