Standardkessel Baumgarte secures order from STEAG GmbH for supply of four steam generators in Scholven

April 2019

Ruhr Oel GmbH Raffinerie (ROG) is a wholly owned subsidiary of BP and operates one of Europe’s biggest refineries in Gelsenkirchen. Within the scope of a comprehensive modernization project, with which the energy company STEAG based in Essen has been commissioned, two new steam generator plants with, in each case, two directly fired redundant steam generators are being constructed for the 145 bar and the 100 bar steam lines.

The Power Plant division of Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH has secured the order for the supply of four steam generators with ancillary trades from STEAG GmbH, which as the general contractor, is responsible for the renewal of the steam supply.

The aim is to integrate the new steam supply into the existing refinery and to design it with redundancy so that the reliable supply of the medium steam is ensured at all times. With the planned new steam generating plants, including the ancillary plants, the current reliability of steam supply is to be clearly exceeded and the use of flares is to be reduced.

As early as November 2018, Standardkessel Baumgarte secured the order for the four steam generators. From April 2021 to August 2021 all four steam generators are to be commissioned.

Technical data:
Steam I
Steam output: 140 t/h
Steam pressure: 145 bar(a)
Steam temperature: 545°C

Steam II
Steam output: 120 t/h
Steam pressure: 107 bar(a)
Steam temperature: 430°C
