Standardkessel GmbH receives order to supply the steam generator for the biomass-fired power plant in Widnes, United Kingdom

December 2014

On 19.12.2014 Standardkessel GmbH received the order from Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) for the construction of a steam generator for the future biomass-fired power plant in Widnes. For Standardkessel that is, after Speyside, the second order from the UK this year.

The power plant is a part of the Stobart Park Project for the enlargement of a transhipment terminal and is intended to supply all of the facilities with heat and additional to feed electricity into the public grid.

BWSC is the general contractor for the complete Widnes project and realises with the execution of the power plant its first waste wood-fired plant in England. Standardkessel had already been selected as a partner in advance on the basis of its technical know-how.
With Standardkessel, BWSC has a competent and experienced partner for the boiler plant by its side.

The boiler plant will be constructed with the already repeatedly proven pusher-type grate technology.

Rated thermal input:               70 MWth
Steam output:                         81.7 t/h
