On 18.08.2014 Standardkessel GmbH received the notice to proceed for the biomass-fired power plant in Speyside. After more than two years of project development and planning time, the approvals at district level, the promise of funding from the Treasury and also the financing for the Green Energy Project have been received now. Hence the last hurdle has been cleared for the implementation of the project.
With a construction period of approximately two years the biomass-fired power plant will be constructed by Standardkessel GmbH as the general contractor. In the future the power plant, operating on fresh wood, will feed in approx. 11 MW of electricity into the public grid and also export approx. 9 MW of process steam to supply the neighbouring Macallan distillery. The boiler plant will be constructed using the already often proven grate technology.
