Standardkessel Baumgarte applies for patent for NoCorr

Improved technology in the electrodeposition process of pure nickel on boiler components at risk of corrosion

March 2023

The key to an economically efficient plant is its smooth operation, without breakdowns and time-consuming maintenance measures. As a leading supplier of plants for the thermal utilisation of residual materials, we are also pioneers in the development of new corrosion protection processes. Our in-house NoCorr process has been successfully used by Standardkessel Baumgarte customers for many years.

Corrosion can occur wherever flue gases with high temperatures meet membrane walls and convection heating surfaces. The consequences are obvious: the service life of components decreases and an operating shutdown to replace the damaged components can no longer be avoided. This is a problem that operators of EfW and biomass plants in particular have to deal with.

Since the beginning of the 2000s, we have been working intensively on the development of processes for reducing corrosion on steam generator heating surfaces. This is still topical, especially for EfW and biomass plants. In the past years, we have successfully applied for several new patents and gained and implemented extensive experience in process optimisation and quality improvement. SBG's new patented process NoCorr (nickel plating of steam generator heating surfaces) significantly improves the thick nickel plating process once again! The results are cost reduction, lifetime extension of the heating surfaces and reduction of the processing time with simultaneous increase of the surface quality, especially with regard to an even nickel layer on the entire heating surface.

If you are wondering how NoCorr can solve your corrosion problem and how we can be your perfect partner, "think nickel".
