Successful Pressure Test for the Project E-Wood in Belgium

January 2022

After all pressure part seams for the steam generator incl. economiser were completely welded, the boiler pressure test for the pressure parts could now be successfully carried out together with our Notified Body (TÜV-Nord), Mr Dewenter.

Important milestone achieved despite difficult conditions.

At the required test pressures for the steam generator and the economiser, all weld seams proved their tightness. Despite the difficult conditions caused by the pandemic, another important milestone for the realisation of the project has been reached with the successful pressure test.

Our thanks go to our customer E-Wood for the cooperative collaboration and to all colleagues in the project, especially our construction site team and the teams of our contractors as well as our quality assurance, for their active support.

E-Wood biomass power plant in the port of Antwerp

The E-Wood biomass plant will utilise about 150,000 tonnes of non-recyclable wood per year. The steam generator will be designed with stationary fluidised bed combustion, which has clear advantages in terms of compliance with the required emission limits. In addition to the generation of 20 MWel, high-pressure steam will be fed into the ECLUSE steam network in Waasland in the port of Antwerp. The start of commissioning of the turnkey E-Wood biomass plant is planned for May 2022.
