SBG was awarded the contract by E-Wood to realise a turnkey biomass plant in the port of Antwerp. After issuing the Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) on 30 September 2020, the first column has now been installed.
Successful installation of the first column
Despite the current circumstances with the severe disruptions caused by the CORONA pandemic, we were able to place the first column of the new biomass plant on schedule.
"Achieving this step within the schedule makes us confident about the further on-time realisation of the project despite the current situation."
Frank Neuhaus, Technical Project Manager
SBG remains positive about the further assembly and thanks to the entire team, as well as our customer, who have made this important step possible through cooperative collaboration.
E-Wood biomass power plant in the port of Antwerp
The E-Wood biomass plant will utilise about 150,000 tonnes of non-recyclable wood per year. The steam generator will be designed with stationary fluidised bed combustion, which has clear advantages in terms of compliance with the required emission limits. In addition to the generation of 20 MWel, high-pressure steam will be fed into the ECLUSE steam network in Waasland in the port of Antwerp. Commissioning of the turnkey E-Wood biomass plant is scheduled for February 2022.
