Standardkessel achieved Early Synchronisation and supply of first heat for the Speyside project

March 2016

Since the project start on August 28th, 2014, the project team strived to achieve Early Completion, roughly 2 months prior to the contractual deadline. To supply power and heat on or before March 31st, 2016, means that the owner SREP will benefit from higher ROC and RPI benefits for the next 20 years. The proud teams from SREP and Standardkessel are thanking all partners involved in the process for the successful co-operation.

The project comprised a green field installation from the well for the make-up water to the heat consumer, Macallan, about 1.6 km distant from the boiler site. The turbine may generate more than 12 MW net power, and the distillery will consume about 9 MW of heat at a pressure of 2.5 bar (g). The fuel used for the heat generator is fresh wood from the region, which is usually chipped on site. Standardkessel has been responsible not only for the EPC scope but as Principal Contractor also for managing the approvals by local authorities.

During the months to come, the mechanical and electrical works will be completed and the operation will be optimised for the future commercial operation by BWSC.

Standardkessel are inviting interested customers to the site for reference visits before and after Preliminary Acceptance (PAC).
