New Order for Standardkessel Baumgarte

Our long-standing customer EGGER places a new order with SBG!

March 2024

After more than a year of intensive project work, we are delighted to have received another order from our long-standing customer, EGGER, for a new boiler system at the production site in St. Johann in Tyrol.

After EGGER has already reported on the new investment in its main plant, we can now also announce the gratifying award of the contract to Standardkessel Baumgarte.

The order volume for SBG comprises the delivery, installation and commissioning of a boiler system including exhaust air purification and SCR-DeNOx. The new power plant will be operated as a combined heat and power plant and will supply both heat and electricity from biogenic fuels for the company's own production processes. In this way, EGGER will reduce the use of fossil fuels at the site to almost zero, significantly reduce fossil CO2 emissions and can also supply the surrounding communities with even more sustainable district heating. Construction will start in spring 2024. With this investment, the family-owned company is taking a pioneering measure at its own main plant that clearly contributes to the EGGER Group's commitment to climate protection with the ultimate goal of Net Zero by 2050.

Mr. Bernhard Vorreiter, EGGER (Quote from press release EGGER)

Thanks to the integrated energy concept at the St. Johann in Tirol plant, considerable amounts of fossil fuels are already being saved. "Our first comprehensive energy and environmental project was launched back in September 2008 and since then we have been supplying the neighbouring communities with thermal energy. At around 70 million kWh per year, we are well above the potential and promised supply volumes originally calculated. With the new power plant, we are enabling further grid connections and densification in the region," says Bernhard Vorreiter, Division Manager Technology/Production EGGER Decorative Products Centre.

Proven technology for the new plant

The firing system used is a combination of an air-cooled SBG pusher-type grate, which is already in operation at this and other EGGER sites, and an injection firing system. The steam generator in a vertical four-pass design feeds the steam turbine for power generation as well as the process steam system for production at the site. The plant also supplies district heating to the district heating network in St. Johann.

Mr. Thomas Blau, Standardkessel Baumgerte

"On behalf of my team, I would like to thank everyone involved for their efficient collaboration. We wish the processing team every success in realising the project!" says Mr. Thomas Blau, Division Manager Proposals at SBG

Jointly developed plant design

We are proud that EGGER has chosen us as a strategic partner after many positive experiences with SBG and the systems we have already supplied. Against this background, we were able to develop a plant design together with EGGER that can be used for possible new construction projects at other EGGER locations with only a few adjustments.

We wish the entire processing team every success in the realisation of the new power plant line.
